Methods Section Review Checklist
Check whether methods can be replicated.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Review a methods section. The methods text: [METHODS_TEXT]. The study type: [STUDY_TYPE]. Reporting guidelines I follow, if any: [GUIDELINES]. Check for participants and sampling, materials and instruments, procedure, variables and measurement, analysis plan, ethics and consent, and enough detail for replication. Produce a table with Element | Present? | Clarity | Suggested addition. Highlight missing details and ambiguous statements. Do not assume reporting standards; ask me which guidelines apply and mark them as items to verify [VERIFY]. Provide a rewritten version of one weak paragraph as an example using only information I supplied. Also add a replication test: could a competent researcher repeat the study from this text alone, and which three missing details would stop them? Provide a short list of vague phrases to replace with exact information. Add a template sentence set for describing procedures in the past tense and in enough detail, plus a reminder to cite established instruments with their sources.
