How our prompts are made and checked
Last updated October 28, 2026.
Prompt Almanac is a free directory of prompts for AI assistants. This page says plainly how the prompts are produced, what is checked, and what is not.
How prompts are written
The prompts are drafted with the help of AI writing tools, working from a written set of content rules. Each prompt is meant to be original, to name the details you need to supply as [PLACEHOLDERS], to say what kind of output you want, and to be usable in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar assistants. Some prompts include an example output. Example outputs use made-up data and are only an illustration.
What is checked
- Automated checks on every build: length limits, required fields, unique titles and prompt text, working internal links, and limits on repeated boilerplate.
- A content check for clarity, placeholders and consistency, done during writing.
- Rules for sensitive areas: letters are written in your own voice and must not invent laws or deadlines; wellbeing prompts are non-clinical and point to crisis resources; security prompts are defensive only.
What "reviewed" means here
When a prompt is marked reviewed in our data, it means its content was read and checked for clarity, placeholders and consistency. It does not mean that a lawyer, accountant, doctor, HR professional or other qualified person has reviewed it. Nothing on this site is professional advice (see the terms and disclaimer). Prompts about law, money, health, employment and similar topics are starting points that you must check against the rules and facts that apply to you.
What [VERIFY] means
Some prompts contain [VERIFY], [JURISDICTION] or similar flags. They are reminders, not blanks to fill with a guess. [VERIFY] marks a point where the AI's answer must be checked against an official or otherwise reliable source before you use it, such as a deadline, a legal term, a figure or a policy. [JURISDICTION] marks where the answer depends on where you live. If you cannot check a flagged point, leave it out of what you send.
Dates and updates
Each prompt page shows the date it was added. The library was first published in October 2026. Facts that change quickly, such as product names, prices and features in the Prompt Academy guides, carry an "as of" date and are rechecked from time to time.
Ratings
Star ratings are anonymous and come from visitors. A prompt with no ratings has simply not been rated yet. We do not write or buy ratings.
