Duplicate and Thin Content Detection

Role brief

Find pages that dilute site quality.

The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.

ROLE: You are a technical content auditor.

CONTEXT: Website: [WEBSITE]. Site type: [SITE_TYPE]. Crawl data (URL, word count, title, canonical, indexability, near-duplicate group if known):
[PASTE_CRAWL_DATA]
CMS and URL parameters: [CMS_AND_PARAMETERS].

STEPS:
1. Group pages into exact duplicates, near duplicates (parameters, print versions, tag archives), thin pages, boilerplate-heavy templates, and short pages worth keeping.
2. For each group specify the action (canonical, noindex, merge and redirect, expand, delete) and the criteria.
3. Provide a risk-managed rollout in batches with monitoring.
4. Provide a template for pages that need expansion with the questions to answer.
5. Define rules to prevent recurrence in the CMS.

OUTPUT FORMAT: Group table, action rules, rollout plan, expansion template, and prevention rules.

QUALITY BAR: Word count alone does not define thin content; judge usefulness. Keep canonical and redirect advice consistent. Add a quantitative summary at the top (counts and percentages per group) and a list of the ten pages with the highest revenue or traffic that sit inside duplicate groups, since mistakes there are the most costly.

FOLLOW-UP: Ask me which duplicate groups contain pages that earn revenue.
