Citation Style Conversion Checklist
Convert references carefully between styles.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[ADD SOURCE] [VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Help me convert references from one citation style to another. Original style and target style: [STYLES]. A sample of my references: [SAMPLE_REFERENCES]. The journal or institution's guidance: [GUIDANCE]. Create a conversion checklist covering in-text citation format, reference list order, author names, dates, titles, journal names, DOIs and links, page numbers, and edition details. Convert my sample references, marking the elements I changed and any missing information [ADD SOURCE]. Warn about common errors, such as automatic tools mishandling capitalisation. Remind me to verify against the official style manual or the journal's instructions [VERIFY], and to check every reference against the source itself. Provide a final proofreading routine. Also add a short worked example converting one invented journal article reference between two common styles, labelled as an illustration, and a list of items that are easy to miss, such as issue numbers, DOI format and editor names in chapters. Add a quick reference table with columns for element, original style, target style and my sample, so that the conversion is traceable and consistent across the whole list.
