Prepare for questions. My talk: [TALK_SUMMARY]. Audience and likely concerns: [AUDIENCE_CONCERNS]. Weak points in my case: [WEAK_POINTS]. Data I can cite: [DATA]. List fifteen questions, five of them difficult or hostile. For each draft an honest answer outline using the BRIEF pattern: bridge, answer, evidence, follow-up offer. Mark answers where I should say I do not know and will find out. Return a table, a script for handling a long question, an interruption and a question outside my expertise, and a rehearsal plan with a partner. Do not craft answers that dodge the question or misstate facts. Add a worked example. Hostile question: Isn't this just a way to cut costs? Bridge: I understand why it can look like that. Answer: The goal is faster service, and the savings are secondary; last quarter response times fell from 48 hours to 30. Evidence: the service log [ADD SOURCE]. Follow-up offer: I can share the full figures after the session. Note the arithmetic: a fall from 48 to 30 hours is 18 hours, which is 37.5 percent. Provide the pattern for questions you cannot answer: acknowledge, explain what you do know, commit to a date for a written answer, and then actually send it. Add a list of tone tips: pause before answering, keep a neutral face, thank the person for the question, and avoid defensiveness. Prepare for a question that is a long speech by summarising it in one sentence and asking whether you have understood. Provide a plan for the end of the Q and A: a final summary that repeats the key message. Rehearse with a partner who plays the hardest questioner and records your responses. Mark answers that rest on information not yet public so they are checked before use. Add a closing exercise: record yourself answering three of the hard questions on your phone, then listen for hedging, speed and filler words, and repeat once.

Invented hostile question: "Isn't this just a way to cut costs?" Bridge: I understand why it can look like that. Answer: The aim is faster service; savings are secondary. Response time fell from 48 hours to 30. Check: 48 - 30 = 18 hours; 18 / 48 = 37.5 percent faster. Evidence: the service log [ADD SOURCE]. Follow-up offer: I can send the full figures after the session. If the full cost data is not public: "I don't have that figure in front of me; I'll send it by Friday." Then send it.
