Sprint Goal Writing Workshop
Give each sprint a clear purpose.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Help the team write sprint goals. Product and recent sprints: [PRODUCT_AND_SPRINTS]. Backlog items for the next sprint: [BACKLOG_ITEMS]. Stakeholder priorities: [PRIORITIES]. Explain what a good sprint goal is: a single outcome that gives the sprint coherence, can be checked at the end, and explains why the sprint is worth doing. Write three candidate goals from my backlog with the rationale. Example: Weak "Complete stories 14, 15, 21." Strong "Customers can pay with saved cards so repeat checkout takes under one minute." For each candidate give: the items that support it, the items that do not (candidate to defer), a way to check at review, and a risk. Provide a template, a 20-minute facilitation plan, and a check: can the team say what they would cut first if time ran out? Add anti-patterns (goal is a list of tasks, goal changes mid-sprint, no one remembers the goal). Add a 20-minute facilitation script with the exact prompts, the rule that the sprint goal is written before the items are final, and a mid-sprint check to ask whether the goal is still the right one.
