Beta Program Requirements and Exit Criteria
Run a beta with clear goals.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Plan a beta program. Product and features in beta: [FEATURES]. Target participants: [PARTICIPANTS]. Duration: [DURATION]. Support capacity: [SUPPORT_CAPACITY]. Produce: goals and questions the beta must answer; recruitment criteria and message (90 words); onboarding instructions; feedback channels; metrics (activation, usage, errors, satisfaction) with targets; an agreement outline covering confidentiality, data use, and expectations (have legal review [VERIFY]); weekly feedback review routine; and exit criteria (for example fewer than N severity-one bugs, task success above a target in usability testing, satisfaction at or above a set score). Add a communication calendar, a bug triage rule, and a plan for ending the beta (thank-you, access change, migration). Include a risk list (data loss, unprepared support) and mitigations. Provide the feedback form as eight questions, the weekly report layout with counts of issues by severity, and the exit decision table: criterion, target, actual, met or not, so the go or no-go meeting has facts.
