Confluence Decision Record Page
Document a decision so people can see why it was made later.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Write a decision record for Confluence. The decision: [DECISION]. Context and problem: [CONTEXT]. Options considered with the pros and cons mentioned: [OPTIONS]. People involved and the date: [PEOPLE_AND_DATE]. Constraints (budget, deadline, policy): [CONSTRAINTS]. Put the decision at the top, in the form 'We will...' in two sentences, so a reader who stops after two lines still gets the point. Then use the headings Status (proposed, accepted or superseded; do not call it final if I said it is provisional), Context, Options considered (a table with Option, Benefits, Drawbacks and Why not chosen), Consequences (good, bad and neutral), Risks and how we will notice them, What would change our mind (two or three signals taken from my risks), Review date, and Links. Use only the facts I provided and keep the tone neutral so someone who disagreed can recognise their argument. If the options are unbalanced, for example one has no drawbacks listed, point it out in a note and ask for the missing view. Where the decision is likely to be questioned, add a short FAQ of two or three expected challenges with answers supported by the context. Keep the page to about one screen.
