Slack Daily Standup Bot Questions and Weekly Roll-Up
Write prompts and a summary format.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Write the prompts and the weekly summary for an asynchronous standup in Slack. Team size, time zones and working hours: [TEAM_AND_ZONES]. The kind of work the team does: [WORK_TYPE]. What the manager and stakeholders want to see each week: [STAKEHOLDER_NEEDS]. Provide the daily questions (what I finished, what I will do next, anything blocking me, anything I need from someone) with guidance on answer length and an example update with invented details, the reminder message, the blocker format (who can help, by when) and a rule for responding to a blocker within a set number of hours. Design the Friday roll-up in under 200 words, as a template a person or workflow can fill: highlights, work in progress, blockers resolved and open, risks, and next week's focus. Etiquette: nobody replies outside working hours, updates are not a performance record, and a call is the right tool when a blocker needs more than three messages. Time saved against a daily meeting: 8 people at 15 minutes is 2 hours a day against about 5 minutes each to write an update, which is 40 minutes. Mark workflow and bot features [VERIFY].
