RAG Status Definitions and Escalation Rules
Make red, amber, green mean the same thing everywhere.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Define RAG status rules. Organization and project types: [ORGANIZATION]. Existing definitions and confusion: [EXISTING_CONFUSION]. Metrics tracked: [METRICS]. Produce a table: Dimension (schedule, budget, scope, quality, risk, resources) | Green | Amber | Red, with numeric thresholds as placeholders I can set (for example schedule: green = within 5 percent of planned duration, amber = 5 to 15 percent, red = more than 15 percent; or a milestone slipping more than 2 weeks). Specify how the overall status is derived (worst dimension unless justified) and rules for changing status. Add: required actions for each color (amber needs a recovery plan within 5 working days; red needs sponsor escalation within 2 days); examples of status in practice (three projects with data and the correct status); common misuses (optimism, avoiding red); an audit routine comparing reported status to actual data; and a short guide for project managers (one page). Include three worked examples with data showing how each would be rated and why, and a rule that a project cannot be green overall if any single dimension has been red for two consecutive weeks.
