Interactive Prototype Test Script
Plan a usability test for a mockup.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Write a usability test script for my prototype. Product and prototype fidelity: [PRODUCT_AND_FIDELITY]. Participants: [PARTICIPANTS]. Tasks to test: [TASKS]. Questions I need answered: [RESEARCH_QUESTIONS]. Session length: [SESSION_LENGTH]. Moderated or unmoderated: [MODERATION_TYPE]. Use the tone and structure of this excerpt: Intro: "Thanks for joining. We're testing the design, not you, so there are no wrong answers. Please think aloud as you go. I may not answer questions right away because I want to see how it works for you. Is it okay if I record the screen and your voice? You can stop at any time." Task: "Imagine you've just bought a new bike and want to book a first service. Starting from this screen, show me how you'd do that." (Do not name buttons.) Probe: "What are you looking for right now?" "What did you expect to happen?" Write the full script: welcome and consent (with recording and data handling), background questions (3), a warm-up task, my tasks with scenario wording that avoids hints, success criteria and time limits, neutral probes for when participants are quiet or stuck, post-task ratings (single ease question), end-of-session questions, and closing. Add an observer sheet (timestamped notes, severity rating for issues), rules for not leading, a pilot test step, and an analysis template that ties findings to the research questions.
