Atomic Notes From an Article or Lecture
Split long notes into reusable single-idea notes.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Break these long notes into atomic notes. The notes or transcript: [PASTE_NOTES]. My purpose (study, writing, project): [PURPOSE]. Preferred format (Markdown, Notion blocks, plain text): [FORMAT]. Steps: 1. List the distinct ideas in the notes (one per line) and drop duplicates. 2. For each idea, create an atomic note with: a clear title phrased as a claim or question; a 1 to 4 sentence explanation that makes sense alone; an example if the source gave one; related ideas (by title); tags (at most two); source and date. 3. Mark ideas that are facts needing a check as [VERIFY] and those that are my own thoughts versus the source's. 4. Group the notes into themes and propose an index note. 5. Produce a short summary of the original (three sentences) for the top of the index. 6. Suggest three flashcards from the most important notes. Rules: keep one idea per note; do not merge unrelated points; keep my phrasing where it is clear; do not add information that was not in the notes. Show a before-and-after for one paragraph of my notes. Finish with a short process I can follow in 15 minutes after each lecture or reading.
