Plan a writing workshop mini-lesson. Grade and genre: [GRADE_AND_GENRE]. The skill to teach (for example strong leads, using evidence, showing not telling, paragraphing): [SKILL]. Students' current writing level and common problems: [WRITING_NEEDS]. Time for the workshop: [TIME].

Follow the structure: connection, teaching point, demonstration, active engagement, link.
1. Connection (1 to 2 minutes): link to what students did before; state the teaching point in one sentence ("Today I'll show you how writers...").
2. Demonstration (4 to 5 minutes): model with my own writing; write the sample text for me (150 words) with a weak version and a strong version, and "think aloud" notes to say as I revise.
3. Active engagement (3 to 4 minutes): students try on a short sample or their own draft with a partner; provide the prompt and sentence frames.
4. Link (1 minute): send them off to apply the skill, with the criteria.
5. Independent writing and conferences (20 to 30 minutes): five conference questions and a note-taking sheet.
6. Share (5 minutes): how to choose and structure sharing.

Add an anchor chart design, a feedback checklist, differentiation ideas, and a follow-up lesson for the next day. Do not use copyrighted texts as mentor texts without permission; use my own samples or ones I supply.
