Push Notification Plan Without Annoying Users
Choose which notifications to send, when, and how users control them.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Plan push notifications for [APP_DESCRIPTION]. Users and their goals: [USER_GOALS]. Events that could trigger a message: [EVENTS]. Platform rules I know about: [PLATFORM_RULES]. For each trigger decide whether a notification is justified using three questions: is it useful now, is it personal to this user, and would the user miss out without it? Remove triggers that fail. For those kept, write the message under 90 characters, the timing rule, the frequency cap and the deep link destination. Add the permission request plan: when to ask, the explanation shown before the system prompt, and what to do after a refusal. Provide a preferences screen layout, quiet hours rules and metrics to review, such as opt-out rate by notification type. Consent and marketing message rules are [VERIFY] for [REGION]. Add a rule for batching: if three events occur within ten minutes, send one summary instead of three messages. Define what happens on devices where notifications are disabled, so critical information is still visible inside the app. Include a test plan using a staging account and a list of timings across time zones, so nobody receives a message in the middle of the night.
