Remote Team Working Agreement
Define norms for communication and availability.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Facilitate a working agreement for my remote team. Interview me first, one question at a time, and wait: (1) team size, roles, and time zones, (2) what does or does not work today in communication, (3) which tools are used for what, (4) how quickly people expect answers in chat versus email, (5) meeting load and which are necessary, (6) how decisions are made and recorded, (7) how we handle urgent issues and time off, and (8) what individuals need to do their best work. Team notes: [TEAM_NOTES]. After the interview, produce a working agreement with sections: core hours and overlap; availability and status signals; communication channels and expected response times; meeting rules (agenda, notes, camera optional or expected, recording); asynchronous work and documentation; decision making and disagreement; urgent contact rules; time off and handovers; feedback and one-to-ones; focus time; social connection; how the agreement changes. Write each as a clear rule in plain language, using "we". Add a one-page summary, a 15-minute process for the team to review and amend it, and a review date. Include three questions to find out whether the agreement is being followed.
