Confluence Team Intranet Home Page Design
Plan a front page that people actually use.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Design the home page for a team or department space in Confluence. Audience: [AUDIENCE]. What people look for most: [TOP_NEEDS]. Content owners: [OWNERS]. Existing pages: [EXISTING_PAGES]. Specify the layout and write the text for each part: a welcome line (about 20 words), quick links to the five most-needed pages with labels that start with a verb or name the destination in no more than five words, latest news (three items, each with a date, headline and two-line summary), upcoming dates, people and contacts (role and a way to reach them), a search hint and a link to request changes. Fewer, clearer links beat a long list. Propose labels and a page tree under the home page with at most seven top-level pages. Add a test with three real tasks, counting clicks, for example five people each finding the leave policy, last week's notes and the on-call contact, where 4 of 5 finding each in under 30 seconds is 80 percent. Add an accessibility check: keyboard navigation, heading order, and links that make sense out of context, plus a screen reader test if possible. Define the owner, a five-minute monthly review and a quarterly look at page analytics [VERIFY]. Names of macros, screens and options differ by edition and set-up, so mark anything you cannot confirm [VERIFY].
