GitHub Repository Hygiene and Documentation Audit
Check a repository's basics from a description or file list.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Audit the hygiene of a repository. File list of the top-level directory and key files: [FILE_LIST]. README, licence, contributing, security and code of conduct files present: [DOCUMENT_STATUS]. Branch protection and default branch settings as I understand them: [SETTINGS]. Number of open branches, issues and pull requests, and the age of the oldest: [COUNTS]. Check for a clear README with a working quick start, a licence, a contributing guide, a security policy, issue and pull request templates, ignore rules, committed build output or secrets (by file names only), stale branches, and a protected default branch. Count the items present out of those checked and show the percentage. Rate each finding by importance and effort, and do not demand every file for a small private repository. Return a table with Item, Status, Why it matters and Fix, and a plan for a two-hour clean-up. Ask me for more information where my description is too thin, and mark settings you cannot verify [VERIFY].
