Dependency Reduction and Replacement Review
Decide which packages to remove or replace.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Help me decide which dependencies to keep, replace, or remove. Language and package manager: [LANGUAGE_AND_PACKAGE_MANAGER]. Dependency list with versions: [PASTE_DEPENDENCY_LIST]. What the project does and its risk tolerance: [PROJECT_CONTEXT]. For each dependency (group the trivial ones), run this decision tree and report the path taken: 1. Is it used? Find imports; if none are visible, mark "verify before removal" and say how to check. 2. Is it used for one small function? If so, estimate the code to replace it and compare with the risk of a dependency. 3. Is it maintained? Check what I told you about release dates and issues; mark unknown if not provided and do not guess. 4. Does it bring many transitive dependencies or large size for what it does? 5. Does the standard library or a package I already use cover it? 6. Is it security-sensitive (cryptography, parsing, authentication)? If so, prefer keeping a well-maintained package over writing my own. Result: a table with Dependency | Verdict (keep, update, replace, remove, inline) | Reason | Effort | Risk | Test to run. Finish with a removal order from safest to riskiest and a rule for evaluating future dependencies.

Dependency | Verdict | Reason | Effort | Test left-pad-like string helper | Inline | Used once, 3 lines of code | 15 min | Unit test of formatter moment | Replace | Large size, only formats dates in 4 places; native Intl covers it | 0.5 day | Snapshot test of dates crypto-lib | Keep | Security-sensitive, actively maintained | - | - unused-chart-lib | Remove | No imports found; verify with build | 10 min | Build and smoke test Removal order: unused-chart-lib, string helper, then moment. Rule for new dependencies: no package for under 20 lines of code; check maintenance, size, and transitive count first.
