Blog Post Quality Rubric and Editing Checklist

Rubric scoring Has example

Create a scoring system to review drafts.

The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.

[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.

Create a scoring system for blog drafts and use it on my draft. Blog topic and audience: [BLOG_TOPIC_AND_AUDIENCE]. Goal of this post: [POST_GOAL]. Target keyword, if any: [TARGET_KEYWORD]. Draft: [PASTE_DRAFT].

Rubric: score each from 0 to 4, where 0 means missing and 4 means excellent, with a quote from the draft and a fix:
1. Purpose and promise: the title and opening state what the reader gets.
2. Audience fit: level, vocabulary, and examples.
3. Originality: personal experience, data, or a point of view rather than a summary of other posts.
4. Evidence and accuracy: claims supported with sources; flag items to verify as [VERIFY].
5. Structure: headings, order, scannability, and length suited to the topic.
6. Clarity and style: short sentences, concrete language, active voice.
7. Engagement: stories, examples, and rhythm.
8. Practical value: steps, templates, or decisions the reader can use.
9. Search basics: title, headings, meta description, internal links, image alt text (without keyword stuffing).
10. Call to action and next step.

Show the total out of 40 with a verdict (publish, revise, rethink), a top-five fix list, and an editing checklist in three passes (structure, line edit, proofread). Add suggestions for a stronger opening and conclusion, but keep my voice.

Editing passes: structure, line edit (cut 15%), proofread.
