Design an asynchronous stand-up for Slack. Team size and time zones: [TEAM_AND_ZONES]. Work we do: [WORK_TYPE]. What the current meeting costs in minutes per day: [MEETING_COST]. What managers need to see: [MANAGER_NEEDS]. Reply window for blockers in hours: [HOURS]. Write the daily prompt with three to four questions (done, next, blockers, help needed) and a rule for answer length. Sample update (invented): 'Done: finished the invoice export; Next: tests for refunds; Blocked: waiting for API access from finance, need by Thursday.' Friday digest: 'Highlights: invoice export released. In progress: refund tests. Blockers: API access (finance) open 3 days. Decisions: none.' Explain how to run it with a Slack workflow or reminder and which parts need manual work [VERIFY what is available on our plan]. Time saved: 8 people at 15 minutes a day is 2 hours a day, 10 hours a week, against about 8 minutes a day each to write an update. Rules: blockers get a reply within the stated hours, nobody is expected to reply outside working hours, a live call is used when a blocker needs more than three messages, and a blocker older than two days is escalated. The aim is visibility, not surveillance; say how managers should read updates and what not to do with them, and make sure it does not become a record of who typed the most. Two-week trial with a measure (blockers resolved faster, fewer meetings), a three-question survey, and a monthly check of whether it is still useful.
