Stakeholder Roadmap Pushback Responses
Handle requests without losing trust.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Prepare responses to roadmap requests. Our roadmap and strategy: [ROADMAP_AND_STRATEGY]. The request and who made it: [REQUEST_AND_REQUESTER]. Their reasons: [REASONS]. Constraints: [CONSTRAINTS]. Produce: a clarifying question list (what problem does this solve? who is affected? what happens if we do nothing? is there a deadline and where does it come from?); an evaluation against criteria (strategic fit, evidence, cost, alternatives); and responses for each outcome: yes (what we will drop or delay to fit), not now (what would change our mind, when we will review), no (clear reason, alternative), and "tell me more". Write scripts for each (60 to 90 words), an email (130 words), and a tradeoff table: Option | What we gain | What we give up | Risk. Include guidance for executives requesting pet features (use their goals, show tradeoffs) and for large customers (separate the need from the request). Never promise dates or features without engineering agreement.
