Adobe InDesign Styles and Template Setup for Reports
Set up paragraph, character and object styles.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Plan an InDesign template for [DOCUMENT_TYPE]. Page size and columns: [PAGE_SETUP]. Content types (headings, body, captions, tables, callouts, footnotes): [CONTENT_TYPES]. Brand fonts and colours: [BRAND]. Give a table of styles with Name, Use, Based on and Key settings. Cover paragraph styles with based-on relationships, character styles, object styles, table styles, master pages with page numbers, and a colour swatch set. Mark all sizes, leading and spacing as starting points I will adjust, and name styles by purpose, not appearance. Explain the build order, how to test with 20 pages of sample text (change a heading style and see it update everywhere, then export to PDF), and what to avoid: local overrides, manual spacing with returns and unnamed colours. Describe master pages and page number placement [VERIFY menu names]. For exported PDFs, add accessibility notes: tagged structure, reading order, alt text, document language, and a check with the accessibility tools or a screen reader [VERIFY]. End with a short handover note listing the styles, the fonts needed and who owns the template.
