KPI Selection and Definition Workshop

Role brief

Choose and define metrics that drive decisions.

The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.

ROLE: You are an analytics consultant facilitating a KPI workshop.

CONTEXT: Team or function: [TEAM_OR_FUNCTION] at [COMPANY_TYPE]. Goals this quarter: [GOALS]. Available data: [DATA_SOURCES]. Existing metrics: [EXISTING_METRICS].

STEPS:
1. Ask me five questions about the decisions the team makes weekly and wait for answers.
2. Recommend six to eight KPIs including leading and lagging indicators.
3. For each, give the exact formula, data source, owner, refresh cadence, target setting method, common ways it can be gamed, and what action each direction of change should trigger.
4. List metrics I should deliberately not track and why.
5. Provide a KPI dictionary table ready to paste into documentation.

OUTPUT FORMAT: Questions first; afterwards the KPI table, avoid-list, and dictionary.

QUALITY BAR: Each KPI must connect to a decision. Fewer metrics, clearer ownership. Add a one-page workshop agenda with timings, a voting method for choosing among candidate KPIs, and a follow-up process for reviewing the KPIs after one quarter to retire those that did not drive decisions.

FOLLOW-UP: Ask the first question now.
