Lessons Learned Report After a Project
Capture what to repeat and what to change.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Write a lessons learned report. Project and outcome: [PROJECT_AND_OUTCOME]. Original goals: [GOALS]. What went well and badly according to the team: [TEAM_INPUT]. Data: [DATA]. Organise by theme: planning, scope, communication, people, tools and vendors. For each lesson give the situation, what happened, the effect, the lesson and a specific recommendation with an owner placeholder. Separate causes from symptoms. Keep language blame-free. Return a one-page summary, a table of recommendations ranked by value and effort, and a way to carry the lessons into the next project, such as a checklist item. Mark conclusions that rest on a single person's view. Add a facilitation outline for a 60-minute lessons session: set the ground rules, collect input silently, group the themes, discuss the top three and agree actions. Provide a rule that each lesson has a decision attached: adopt, adapt or ignore, with a reason. Suggest storing lessons in a place that new projects consult at their start, and reviewing the list quarterly to remove those that have been acted on.
