Plain-Language Rewrite With a Banned-Phrase List
Make text sound human by banning stock AI phrases and giving before and after samples.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Rewrite the text below in plain language. Text: [TEXT_TO_REWRITE]. Audience: [AUDIENCE]. Reading level I want: [READING_LEVEL]. Rules: short words over long ones; sentences under 22 words; active voice; no filler openers such as "In today's world" or "It is important to note"; do not use the words delve, tapestry, leverage, robust, seamless or unlock; no more than one exclamation mark in the whole piece; keep every fact, number and name exactly as written. Before and after pattern. Before: "It is important to note that our solution leverages cutting-edge technology to streamline workflows." After: "Our tool cuts repeat steps from your day. You set it up once." Return the rewrite, then a short list of the five biggest changes you made and why, then any sentence you could not simplify without losing meaning. If the original makes a claim that sounds unsupported, flag it instead of repeating it. Use this second pattern for a second banned phrase: Before: "We are thrilled to announce a game-changing partnership." After: "We have started working with Brightline. Orders will ship a day sooner." Notice that the after version replaces feelings with a fact the reader can use. Apply that test to every sentence: if it reports a feeling instead of a fact, replace it with the fact or cut it. Keep a running list of any phrase you removed more than twice so I can add it to my own banned list, and tell me when a banned word was the only natural choice, so I can decide whether the rule is too strict for this piece. Keep headings as they are unless they contain a banned phrase. Read the final version aloud in your head and mark any sentence where you stumbled. As a final check, count the average sentence length before and after, show both numbers, and confirm that no number, name or date has changed between the original and the rewrite.

Invented input: "It is important to note that our platform leverages robust analytics to seamlessly unlock insights." Rewrite: "Our tool shows you what your numbers mean, without extra setup." Five biggest changes: removed the filler opener; replaced leverages with the plain verb shows; cut robust and seamlessly, which promise nothing checkable; replaced unlock insights with what your numbers mean; shortened the sentence from 15 words to 13. Unsupported claim flagged: "without extra setup" needs confirming against the product. Check: average sentence length fell from 15 words to 13. The numbers, names and dates are unchanged, and nothing new was added to the claims.
