Simplification options: consolidate sources, replace links with imports on a schedule, or move shared data to a database or a single source sheet. Add a break-and-test procedure: copy the workbook, break each link in turn, and note what fails. Give a documentation template for the dependency list to keep inside the workbook and an owner for each link. Do not assume what the links contain beyond what I wrote.
