Long Document Structure and Cross-Reference Audit
Check that headings, numbering, figures and references are consistent.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Audit a long Word document for structure. A pasted outline of headings, the list of figures and tables with numbers, and any cross-references or captions: [DOCUMENT_STRUCTURE]. The intended audience and length limits: [AUDIENCE_AND_LIMITS]. Check heading levels for skips (a level 3 directly under level 1), inconsistent numbering, duplicate headings, headings that do not describe their sections, very long or very short sections (compute word counts if I give them), figures and tables referenced in text that do not exist or are out of order, captions without numbers, and references that point to the wrong item. Make a table with Location, Issue, Why it matters, and Fix. Count the issues by type with the arithmetic. Propose a simplified outline and a final checklist for updating fields and the table of contents before sending. Describe fixes by function rather than exact menu path; mark paths [VERIFY]. Add a worked finding list: heading 3.1.2 appears under 2, Figure 4 is cited before Figure 3, the table of contents shows 'Section 5' but the heading says 'Chapter 5', two cross-references point to deleted captions; and the order in which to fix them.
