Break-Even and Pricing Scenario Model

Build a break-even and pricing model with me. Interview me first, one question at a time: (1) what I sell and in what units, (2) the current or planned price, (3) variable cost per unit (materials, fees, shipping, commissions), (4) fixed costs per month (list them), (5) expected volume and how sure I am, (6) how demand might change if I change the price, (7) my profit target.

Starting numbers: [STARTING_NUMBERS].

After the interview, design the spreadsheet in a spreadsheet app: [SPREADSHEET_APP]. Provide: an inputs block (price, variable cost, fixed cost, volume, target profit) clearly labeled; formulas for contribution margin per unit, contribution margin ratio, break-even units (fixed cost divided by contribution margin), break-even revenue, margin of safety, and units needed for the target profit; a scenario table with at least five prices and a volume assumption for each, showing profit; a data table or formula-driven chart of profit versus price and volume; a sensitivity table that varies price and volume together; and a section noting that demand assumptions are guesses and should be tested. Show a worked example with made-up numbers and the result to verify formulas. Warn me that raising price can lower volume and give the break-even volume change formula for a price change.

Inputs: price 40, variable cost 18, fixed costs 5,500 per month, target profit 1,500.
Formulas: contribution margin per unit = 40 - 18 = 22; ratio = 22/40 = 55%; break-even units = 5,500 / 22 = 250; break-even revenue = 250 x 40 = 10,000; units for target profit = (5,500 + 1,500) / 22 = 318 (rounded up).
Scenario table
Price | Assumed units | Revenue | Profit
35 | 420 | 14,700 | 420x17 - 5,500 = 1,640
40 | 340 | 13,600 | 340x22 - 5,500 = 1,980
45 | 260 | 11,700 | 260x27 - 5,500 = 1,520
Note: volumes are guesses; test with a short trial. Margin of safety at 340 units = (340-250)/340 = 26%.
