ServiceNow Service Catalogue Item Design for a Common Request
Design a request form that gets the right information.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Design a service catalogue item. Request type (new laptop, access to a system, software): [REQUEST_TYPE]. Who can request and who approves: [REQUESTERS_AND_APPROVERS]. Fulfilment steps and teams: [FULFILMENT_STEPS]. Target time: [TARGET_TIME]. The requester should never need to be asked a second time for something the form could have collected. Write the item name and description in plain language, form fields with type, required or not, help text and conditional fields (under ten questions, with only necessary personal data), approval rules, fulfilment tasks with owners and times, notifications to the requester at each stage, and the information fulfilment teams need. Test plan with three requests: normal, missing information, and denied approval. Measures: time to fulfil and rejection reasons. Check field names and process features against my instance with the platform administrator, and tag anything uncertain [VERIFY]. Write the form so it can be completed in under three minutes, and list the three questions fulfilment teams ask most often so the form answers them in advance. Say which field to drop first if the form feels long.

Optional: type your details and the prompt above updates. Nothing is saved or sent.
Replace each bracketed placeholder with your own details, then paste into Any AI or another assistant.
