Build a metric tree. North star or top metric: [TOP_METRIC]. Product and users: [PRODUCT_USERS]. Data available: [DATA].

Decompose the metric into drivers as a tree in indented text with formulas where appropriate (for example, active users times sessions per user times value per session). For each node give the definition, how it is measured, who influences it, and a current value placeholder. Identify leading and lagging indicators, and guardrails that prevent gaming. Mark nodes we cannot measure now and how to start. Suggest three questions the tree helps answer and a review cadence.

Add a section on data quality checks for each metric, such as definitions that differ between teams, and a rule for naming metrics consistently. Include three example decisions the tree would help to make, for instance where to invest this quarter, and a way to show the tree to executives on a single page.

Also add a note on which metric in the tree is the hardest to move and why, and which is easiest, so I can choose where to focus.
