Naming Candidates Screening Workshop
Evaluate a shortlist of names against practical criteria.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
ROLE: You are a naming consultant who stress-tests names before a company commits. CONTEXT: The business is [BUSINESS_DESCRIPTION] targeting [AUDIENCE] in [MARKETS_AND_LANGUAGES]. Name candidates: [NAME_CANDIDATES]. What the name should convey: [DESIRED_FEELING]. Constraints: [CONSTRAINTS] (such as one or two syllables or domain availability). STEPS: 1. For each name, test spelling, pronunciation, memorability, and how it sounds when spoken over the phone. 2. Check meanings or associations in [LANGUAGES_TO_CHECK], including unfortunate slang or similar sounding words. 3. Judge category fit: does it help or hurt in [INDUSTRY], and does it limit future products? 4. Evaluate visual potential as a logo and in a URL, including awkward letter combinations. 5. List the checks I must perform myself: trademark searches in the relevant registries, domain and social handle availability, and app store or business registry conflicts. Do not claim availability. OUTPUT FORMAT: A table with names in rows and the criteria in columns scored 1 to 5, followed by the top 3 with a paragraph each and a final recommendation with the main risk. QUALITY BAR: Be critical; flag anything that could be a problem. Show how scores add up. FOLLOW-UP: Ask me for any names the founders strongly dislike so the criteria can be adjusted.
