Create a small, consistent tag system.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Design a tagging system for my notes. Number of notes and topics: [NOTE_VOLUME_AND_TOPICS]. Tool: [TOOL]. How I search and retrieve notes: [RETRIEVAL_HABITS]. Examples of notes (titles and content types): [NOTE_EXAMPLES]. Existing tags (paste the list): [EXISTING_TAGS]. Return: 1. Principles: tags answer "how will I find this?"; prefer few tags; link for topics that deserve their own page; use properties for structured data such as status and type. 2. A proposed taxonomy with up to 4 tag families: type (meeting, idea, reference), status (inbox, active, waiting, done), context or area (work, home), and optional topic tags. Table: Tag | Meaning | When to use | When not to use | Example. 3. Rules: naming (lowercase, singular, hyphens), maximum tags per note (three), hierarchy approach (nested tags only if needed), and how to avoid synonyms. 4. Cleanup of my existing tags: a table mapping each old tag to Keep, Rename, Merge, or Delete, with the new tag and reason. 5. A short guide for tagging in 10 seconds. 6. Saved searches or views using the tags. 7. Maintenance: a monthly review to merge duplicates and delete unused tags, and a log of changes. Include an example of five notes tagged under the new system, and warn about tag sprawl.
