Plan parameters for a Tableau workbook. What users should be able to choose (measure, time period, top N, target): [USER_CHOICES]. Fields and sheets: [FIELDS_AND_SHEETS]. Risks of confusion: [CONFUSION_RISKS].

Keep controls understandable to a new user. Table with Parameter, Values, Calculation, Control and Test; for each give the name, data type, allowed values, default, how it is used in a calculated field, the formula [VERIFY syntax], and where the control appears. Worked example: a measure selector that switches between sales and profit, and a top N parameter set to 5, with the current selection shown in the title or caption so screenshots remain understandable. Test cases for each parameter: the default, an extreme value and an invalid choice, covering every value. Warn about too many parameters, misleading defaults, and parameters that conflict with filters, and say when a simple filter or a set would be easier for users and which you would pick for my case.
