STAR Story Bank Builder
Prepare reusable stories for behavioral questions.

Help me build a bank of STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) stories. First, ask me up to six questions to pull out raw material, one at a time: a project I am proud of, a conflict, a failure, a time I led without authority, a tight deadline, and a time I learned something quickly. For each, ask for what happened, my role, what I did, and the result. Then turn each story into this format: - Headline (8 words) so I remember it. - Situation and Task in two sentences. - Action: three specific steps I took, in first person (use "I", not "we"). - Result with a measurable outcome. If I did not give one, ask me or mark it [ADD RESULT]. - Reflection: what I learned. - Questions it can answer (for example "tell me about a time you disagreed with a manager"). Finish with a matrix showing which stories cover which common questions for [TARGET_ROLE] and where I have gaps. Keep each story under 150 words.

Story 3: Late delivery rescue Headline: "Saved the Henley order" Situation and Task: A key customer's order was due Friday; our supplier delayed parts. I had to deliver without extra cost. Action: I (1) phoned two alternative suppliers and compared lead times, (2) agreed a split delivery with the customer, (3) reassigned two team members to assembly on Thursday. Result: delivered 90% on Friday and 10% on Monday; the customer renewed for 12 months. [ADD RESULT: value of renewal] Reflection: ask suppliers for early warning. Questions it answers: "a time you handled a tight deadline", "a time you solved a problem under pressure". Matrix: gaps remain for "conflict with a manager".
