Audit Jira notifications and automation. Notification schemes in use, automation rules with triggers and actions, and complaints about email volume: [NOTIFICATION_SETUP]. Sample counts of emails per person per week: [EMAIL_COUNTS]. Method: for each rule estimate executions per week from the audit log [VERIFY], multiply by recipients per execution, and total per person. Worked estimate: a rule that comments on 40 issues a week and notifies 4 watchers sends 160 notifications; changing it to a daily summary sends 5 a week per watcher, or 20. Another example: 12 emails a day over 5 days is 60 a week, of which 70 percent come from two rules. Present the top five sources as a table with before and after estimates and the saving (for example from 480 to 140 notifications a week). Propose a change for each top source: digest rather than immediate, notify only the assignee, remove the rule, fewer automatic comments, clearer ownership. Ask people what they need to be told, not just what they dislike. Add a team agreement on what deserves a notification, a rule that any new automation notes who it notifies, a test project to try changes safely, and a three-question survey to measure whether people feel less overloaded after two weeks. Do not guess how my instance is configured; ask or flag [VERIFY].
